week 8 do now

I think English is  the most important subject to learn in school because people that are new can understand what we are learning and can learn how to speck it.
If they came here from a different country and didn't know what we are speaking.  That is why I think that English is  the most important subject to learn in school.

States Of Matter

States Of Matter
What is evaporation? if you are evaporating something your moving it from Liquid to
gas so heating something from those states of matter.
What is Condensation? it is cooling a gas down back to a liquid.
What is Distillation? separate a solution using evaporation + condensation
Aim: to use distillation to separate out the dissolved sugar in coke + coke zero from the liquid
Hypothesis: I think that the coke zero I think it will be a light brown color

Chromatography

Today we learnt what Chromatography and did a little experiment.

What is Chromatography? Chromatography- the process of separating a mixture based on the pigments.

Pigments- Pigments can be separated based on their solubility. More soluble the pigment the higher they move with the water. The less soluble the lower they will stay on the chromatography paper.

AIM- To separate the different pigments from ink using chromatography
HYPOTHESIS- I think that it will change colour.
EQUIPMENT- Felt tip pen, filter paper strips, test tube, measuring cylinder, pencil.
Method-
1- Draw a line across the filter paper in pencil, 5cm from the bottom.
2- Draw a coloured dot in the centre of the line.
3- Measure out 10mL of water and place in the test tube.
4- Place the filter paper in the test tube and fold over the side. MAKE SURE THE PENCIL LINE/ DOT IS NOT IN THE WATER.
5- Wait for 5 minutes and observe the results

Steam challenge

Hi reader today we are learning about steam. we had to be in groups and we had a problem and it is rising sea levels. We are also going to find out a way to reduce the amount of sea level by digging halls in the sea so that it will suck the water out of the sea. We are going to find out a way to use sea rising sea levels to make fuel and to make electricity.

Jacinda Ardern

Last week we had to make a paragraph about a NZ leader and picked Jacinda Ardern this is what I did.

I think that Jacinda Ardern is a good leader in New Zealand because she‘s honest and sweet. She's good at being our government and she is a hard worker. She loves saving the environment. Jacinda Ardern likes caring for lots of people like kids and grown-ups. Jacinda Ardern likes giving money to people in need for food or somewhere to live and help the homeless. That's why she's a good leader in New Zealand.

week 6 do now

Is your name important part of who you are? There is many things about you that it important including your name. In my opinion is that my name isn't really important about who I'm/me.That is why I think my name isn't  really important about me/who I am.

Week 5 Do Now

The principal is the most important person in the school because he/she would have to runs the school and are the leader to the other staff. If you are try to get into the school for a new start of the year the principal would ask the other staff to help him/her to show the there people or kids around. That is why I think the  principal is the most important person in the school.

Game day

Today we worked on our interpersonal skills. What IP skill did you show/use today? Active Listening Did you use any warm fuzzies a little bit How did it help with the success/lack of success, of the activity? i listening to the my team and the teacher. I worded with candesse  and AmandaIf you were to do it again, how would you do it differently? some more games. we had 5min for each one. What level of Helisons behaviour model were you working at in this activity and provide examples of this 3/4 we had a lot fun.

Science - concentration and dilution

Hi reader today in science we are learning about what is concentration and dilution. We are also making a little experiment

Concentration - is a measure of how much solute has been dissolved into the solvent.

Dilution - Making something less concentrated.

Aim:  Carry out a serial dilution with potassium permanganate.

Experiment:

Equipment: A potassium permanganate crystal, six large test tubes, tweezers, a plastic transfer pipette, a test tubes rock. 10 ml. measuring cylinder.

Hypothesis: I think it will go change the water.

Method:
  1. Place the six test tubes in a test rack. label the rack with numbers 1-6
  2.  Using the measuring cylinder, fill test tubes 1 with 10 ml. of water. fill the measuring test tubes with 5 ml. of water.
  3. Using your tweezers, add a single cylinder of potassium permanganate to test tube 1.
  4. Gently shake the test tube until the crystal has dissolved.
  5. Using the transfer pipette, carefully 5 ml. from test tube 1 and pour it into test tube 2.
  6. rinse the transfer pipette thoroughly to ensure that no purple solution remains.
  7. Gently shake the test tube 2 and repeat the transfer process, transferring exactly 5 ml. of solution from test tube 2 to test tube 3.
  8. rinse the pipette again and repeat the transfer process of test tube 4, 5 and 6.

Science filtering

Hi reader today in science we are learning about what is filtering and I will tell you some of the key word. We are also making a little experiment with filtering.

key work:
Filtering is separating different sized particles out of a mixture. It can't dissolved if it's a same size.
Solute - sugar = solid was dissolved
Solvent - water = Liquid that does dissolving
Solution  - mixture of two or things

Experiment:
Make a mixture then separate it.
We are using is copper sulfate- light blue, liquid, transparent.
Sodium carbonate - colourless, liquid, translucent.

Equipment:

Sodium carbonate

Copper sulfate

Conical flask

Stirring Rod

200mL Beaker

Funnel

Filter paper

Hypothesis:
I think it will separate both of the liquid but I think it will still have a tint of blue in it.

Method:

1. Pour approximately 50mL of copper sulfate solution into a beaker.

2. Add the same volume of sodium carbonate solution. A reaction will happen, you should see a cloudy blue precipitate form. Called copper carbonate.

3. Watch demo then fold filter paper to fit inside the funnel

4. Place the funnel with the filter paper inside of it, into the mouth of a conical flask.

5. Stir the mixture in the beaker, then carefully pour it into the funnel.

6. Observe what happened.

Observations and Discussion: When we added the to liquiit went dark blue and when it went toghter the filter paper I had a little tint of blue and it had a blue sludge on top. We finish with copper carbonate ( blue sludge ).
