Evaporation, condensation and Distillation.

What is a evaporation? Evaporation is when a substance gets heated up and it turns from a liquid to a gas.
What is condensation? - Gas to a liquid by cooling it down
What is Distillation? - separate a solution using evaporation + condensation

Aim- Use distillation to separate out the sugar in coke + coke zero from the liquid
Hypothesis - I think that the coke zero will have the most sugar.
Discussion: Once we did  it started off at a dark purple and at the end it became clear again. Test tube one was the most concentrated because it had more partials and number 6 test tube was more clear because it had less partials so it was more dilute.

Heat Transfer

Hi reader today we are learning what is Heat Transfer  and we are going to do a little experiment. We learnt about Heat Transfer, conductor of heat, Insulator of heat and convection and it is what there mean.

Heat Transfer - Moving heat from are place to anther
Conductor of heat  - Can pass heat from one thing to anther. ( body, heater )
Insulator of heat  - Doesn't pass on it. ( house,
Convection  - Heat transfer where energy is passed from hot to cold. when an object is heated up, the particles in it start moving faster as they gain energy. These particles also try to spread out as the gaps between  particles gets bigger.

Discussion: With our experiment the class did we used empty tea bags and then we lit the bag and it flew up. This happened because when heat is applied to something the hot partials spread out and they are less heavy so they fly up into the air/sky.

I hope you enjoy read what we did.

Week 9 Do Now

I think learning about politics in school is important for high school students because it would make the world different and it will help the world to. It want be all over the place and ever one would go crazy. That is why I think learning about politics in school is important for high school students.

Politics Party

Hi reader the past couple week we have been doing our politics party. We all had to be in small group with people we don't really work with and the group members were Candesse, Nike and Aaliyah. We had different policies in the group. I hope you enjoy reading our policies.

The Design Process 9 Home Economics

The Design Process 9  Home Economics.
From the past term we have been design a little dessert for our stakeholder. We all had to be in groups and I get put in a group with Chloe and Candesse. My group stakeholder was my English teacher. We had to do a lot of activates and we had to make a shopping list, time management plan and we had to find out what the coasting was.

This is a recipe that we are using. ( Makes 3 pancakes) (Pancakes )

Sunday Pancakes.

Ingredients

1 cup Self Raising Flour

2 Tbsp White Sugar

½ tsp finely grated lemon zest (optional)

1 cup  Milk (or Soy/Rice milk)

1 egg, lightly beaten

30g Butter, melted (or margarine)

To serve:

2 bananas, sliced

1 punnet blueberries (or frozen berries defrosted)

Flavoured Syrup - Butterscotch, Caramel, Vanilla, Maple or Honey Maple.

Method:

  1. Sift the Self Raising Flour and Sugar into a bowl.

  2. Make a well in the centre of the dry ingredients.

  3.  Add the lemon zest, Milk, egg and melted butter/margarine and whisk to combine.

  4. Heat a large non-stick frying pan over medium low heat and grease lightly with butter or oil.

  5. For each pancake, place 2 tablespoons of batter into the pan.

Cook for 2 minutes or until bubbles form on the surface.

Turn and cook for a further 1 to 2 minutes or until the pancakes are cooked through.

Add: Berries, bananas and Flavoured Syrup - Butterscotch, Caramel, Vanilla, Maple or Honey Maple.

Here is some photos from our cooking group.

Feedback from Stakeholder. (My English Teacher)

Kineka,Candesse and Chloe.

Thanks for the delicious pancakes last week, it was such a sweet surprise!

I loved the colours of the toppings - the vibrant rich colours of the fruit contrasted nicely against the soft white cream. The pancakes were delicious and the batter was very smooth. I liked the overall presentation!

Thanks

Evaluation:

I thought it was a bit under cooked but it was still good. I really liked how the blackberries give it a kick sour to the pancakes. Besides the under cooked pancakes, it was amazing.

I thought the time management plan was not really good because we didn’t keep track of our plan or our time. We had the most simplest recipe in the class. I wouldn’t improve the recipe because it was really quick and simple.

I thought that our group wasn’t really working together and next time I wish that we should have been in different groups instead of having our friends together.

Week 9 Do Now

I think that being able to be confident when public speaking is not an important life skill because what if you have to do a speech in front of a lot of people. If you have disability's and can't talk. That is why I think being able to be confident when public speaking is not an important life skill.
