DLO Addition and subtraction

Today I will be sharing my maths DLO with you , I did a slide that shows what we did so here it.



Reflection:
My reflection is that I will solve subtraction equations using family of facts.

Hurumanu - Dirty Water experiment

Aim: To make a filtration plant using household materials.

Water Filtration Plant

What is filtration?

Filtration is separating solids from liquids by adding a medium through which only the liquid can pass. 

Examples are:

1.  pool filter
2.  air filter
3.  water filter 
4. 
   

Materials

1.  Plastics bottle  

2.  Filter paper 

3.  Scissors 

4.  Funnel 

5.  Sand 

6. Small stones 

7. Dirty water

Process - ( use verbs or doing words in each step )

Step 1

Get a bottle and the teacher well put a slit the bottle and then Cut the bottle.

Step 2

Put the top half upside down in the bottle, Get the filter paper and make a cone.

STEP 3

Add layers of sand into the bottom of the cone, add a cup of small stones on top of the sand, add a cup of dirty water and see. 

STEP 4

Get 1 cup of dirty water 

STEP 5

Pour dirty water into 

Findings

Clear with a green tinge and the Drops per minute was 13.

Write a short sentence about the water every 1 minute. 

Include 'How much water has filtered through', 'How fast it is dripping through', and 'How clear the water is'.

Conclusion:
The water that flowed through the filter was clear with a green tinge. The water flowed at 13 drops per minute. The dirty water had bark, soil and leaves sat on top of the pebbles. 

Hurumanu-what is that why powders?

Aim: To learn about the makeup of different white powders.
There are  a number of different white powders in our everyday life. Some of these are harmful and others are not. Test the four white powders listed to see which one has been found at the airport.

Here are some examples of everyday kitchen white powders.

Flour, Cornflour, Sugar, Salt, Baking Soda, Baking Powder, Icing Sugar, Tartaric Acid

Citric Acid, Gluten Free flour

You will be given a small amount of 4 white powders on your cardboard. On the black cardboard using a magnifying glass look at the powders.

Look at them under your magnifying glass and record what you see. 

These are the four powders we will be using. Upload a photo of each powder. 

1.  Cornflour
2.  Baking Soda
3.  Salt
4.  Sugar 

Before you add the iodine, vinegar or water you will need to divide each powder into 3.

Materials

1.  cornflour 
2.  salt 
3.  baking soda 
4.  sugar 
5.  vinegar
6.  water 
7. Iodine

Steps

1. Folded paper into four 
2. Wrote on the paper 
3. we put different materials on the paper
4. put the vinegar in

Findings:
I found out that the Iodine was change the colour with the cornflour and the water because the water was next to the Iodine.

Conclusion: 

for the experiment I have done I have identified the liquids and tried them on the powders and see the reaction to the powder.

Rainbow Paper

Rainbow Paper

Aim: To separate colours by using the process of chromatography.

Materials:

Water based felt pens

Filter paper

Cup

Water

Pencil

Ruler

Step 1:  You have to get in a group of  two or three people then.

Step 2:  Get your put  filter paper and then  get your ruler and then get your pencil.

Step 3: Draw two dots on the paper and put water in it.

Conclusion:

What have I learnt from this experiment?

When the colour  mix they go onto the anther side of the page. 

What I love about the experiment was watching it mix.

The different colour go different steps and mix.

We get to learn about  different things like DNA, Forgery and footprints.

Movie Magic 11/3/19

Movie Magic  

 WALT: I can write a narrative using correct structure
                                                   
This term we have been doing Movie Magic. We did a one mint movie and we were put into group of 3 or 4. I was in Shania and Chloe T, We did another movie and it was little red riding hood and it was a long movie. We all had parts in the movie, we did it with J2 we got to pick our own groups. They was 1,2,3, scenes
These are our characters:

 Chloe T was the mother,
Shania was little red riding hood,
Mika was the wicked old lady and
Mikayla was the grandmother

Reflection

Tuesday 26/02/19 

what game did I find challenging and why? Bench ball ,because it was hard to hear each other name.

One of the goals was to listen...what skills do you need to listen? Stop, listen and look at the teacher.

What communicant skills did I need to have while playing bench ball? Just talk and don't be afraid.

What skills do I need to work on for my next lesson? Defending and getting fitter.

what is my personal goal? I want to get fit and move sport.

Which one did I enjoy the most and why? I enjoy bench ball because you get to throw the ball to other people and get to know them.
