Fruit Crumble

Hello reader, This week on Thursday we made a fruit crumble for home economics. In my group, the ingredients that my group had to use were flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, butter and we also had some apples that are already for the class. But you can have anything that you like in your fruit crumble. My opinion on fruit crumble was that I loved it and I would make it again. Here's the recipe if you would like to make it yourself.

Fruit Crumble                             Serves  4

½ c Flour

½ t Cinnamon

½ c Brown Sugar (not packed)

65 g cold Butter (cut into small cubes)

½ c Rolled Oats (Wholegrain oats)

1 – 2 medium-sized Apples (cooking apples eg Granny Smith work well)

1 D White Sugar

1 T Water

Method

     * Preheat oven to Fan Bake 180°C).

  1. Put flour, cinnamon and brown sugar into a medium bowl.

  2. Rub butter lightly into the flour mixture.

  3. Add rolled oats and mix with a fork.

  4. Peel and quarter the apples. Cut the core out and slice each quarter into thin slices.

  5. Place into a greased pie dish.

  6. Sprinkle with white sugar and water.

  7. Spoon this mixture evenly over the apples to cover them.

  8. Bake on Fan bake for 10 -15 min or until the edge is going brown.

Remember to prepare the crumble topping first before preparing the apples.

Work quickly to lightly rub in butter so the mixture stays as cool as possible.

Place prepared apples in cold lightly salted water to stop them from going brown. Drain well before putting the apple into the pie dish.

You can use other fruit: pears, fresh or frozen berries, peaches, cooked rhubarb etc.

Cooking times can sometimes vary from 15 -20+ minutes.

Allow the cooked Apple Crumble to sit for about 5-10 minutes before serving.

Serve with custard, yoghurt or ice cream.

The uncooked crumble topping freezes well in a bag for later use.

Remember you can use stewed, tinned or frozen fruits.

Is it a crime

Hello, a reader today we had forensics and we had six pictures that are trying to find out if it is crime or not. This is what I did.

1- I think that number one isn't a crime because he might be just getting in his car.

2-  I think that number two isn't a crime because it looks like someone just run over an animal.

3-  I think that number three is a crime because it looks like someone is robbing the bank.

4-   I think that number four isn't a crime because it looks like someone dies in the hospital.

5- I think that number five is a crime because it looks like someone went up to the person and shoot him.

6- I think that number six isn't a crime because it looks like two people just crashed.

Maths and Science Work

Hello, readers this past three weeks we have been learning about Ohm’s law and area in math and science.
Aim: To put together some of the ideas we had learned.
Method: The house plan I picked was house "A" and I had 7 bulbs. Below is a photo of my work.

Discussion: The term voltage means - A force difference expressed in volts. The term Current means - how quickly the electrons move around a circuit. The term resistance means - it pushes back against the current. I did the Calculations by using the ammeter and voltmeter. In the photo there shows all the lines for the bulbs and what area is. There my calculations tell me about my house plan and my circuit because they show me that the light bulbs in houses are the same as a circuit online or someone who drew it. The calculations make sense to me.

Conclusion: I enjoyed this activity. If I were to do it again it would do something different like I would do a different house plan and we had different light bulbs.

Vaping blog

 Vaping blog

Hey readers, for the past few weeks in Health we were set a task that required us to learn about vaping. The first idea that we decided to do was a glob with cotton balls in it and then you put the vapour in the glob and the cotton balls would act as your lungs but it wasn’t going to work. So since we couldn’t do the first idea, Miss Aitken talked to Mrs Gray and then Mrs Gray said that we could get critters and then get them to eat the vape juice and the critters would act as your lungs. On Thursday Stephanie came over with the microscope and then she talked about what we did and why we did it. It was very nice of her to help just with this as I know we wouldn’t have been able to do it without help. When we were done setting up the microscope Candesse, Amanda and I got to test it first and it worked. They all died and it was very cool to look at. The critters were showing how the vape juice would hurt our lungs and how this was shown by when the critters died. At the bottom of this, there will be some photos of the critters when they were dead from when we put the vape juice in the water. When we were done. The rest of the class looked at it and some of our classmates thought that it was fake vape juice but it wasn’t. I think that this was a really cool experiment and we all liked it.

current circuits

 Circuit one

hello readers, today in Bio we were asked to make a circuit and this is Amanda and I's one. In this circuit, there is a battery and the battery makes the power, there are some wires and that help the power to travel to the lightbulb and there's a light bulb and the light bulb makes the light. if you don't know what current and voltage is then ill tell you so current is how quickly electrons move and voltage is how much electrons is in the circuit.

Circuit two

Here is a series circuit. in series, all components (parts) of a circuit are in one loop. the difference between these two circuits I that this one has two light bulbs instead of one.

Circuit three

This is a parallel. in parallel components are in different branches( paths).  this circuit is different from the other two circuits is that there on two separate onto two different paths and so they don't have to share the power but with the series, circuit has to share the power with the other light bulb.

How are they built? They were made out of wood and lashing barrels together.

Schooner week 2

Today we were asked to tell you what a schooner looks like. the schooner usually has four sails it has a long deck and at the front of the ship. There is a pole holding the sails. It looks like you can fit kind of a lot of people on it but I'm not really sure. It's quite big in size and looks like u can fit lots of luggage on it. the one thing I wonder is if the ship has an underneath area.
